Local activists, scholars differ on pontiff’s remarks

A number of local activists and scholars hailed yesterday what they saw as a
significant shift in the Vatican’s thinking about the role condoms could
play in disease prevention, following Pope Benedict XVI’s remarks in a new
book that said condom use to prevent HIV transmission could be seen as a
“first step’’ toward more moral sexual behavior.

Gay Catholic Groups Decry Decision on Adoption

Boston and Washington, DC -- The leaders of Dignity/Boston and DignityUSA, groups representing gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Catholics and allies, spoke out against pressure brought by Catholic leaders forcing an end to the involvement of Catholic Charities of Boston in adoption.
